foreversendtoday: I am taking a Design Drawing 1 class this semester and our current assignment is to draw footwear. I was just wondering how you drew those shoes because I want to be able to draw shoes obviously not JUST like that...but just as well. Do you have any specific techniques you used?
I’m not sure if I can really give out advice since I’m no pro. I am taking up Accountancy. Hahaha.
But from experience, I started with the part of the shoe where you put your feet in, then worked my way down to the tip of the shoe. Just do what feels right as you go along. I’m not the type who makes preliminary shapes for the actual subject like drawing an oval to sort of define the the parameters of the shoe or whatever it is you’re drawing before drawing in details like curves on the side and folds of the shoe. I’m not sure if it’s the right way of doing too. Your professor might have some technique that I will never know. Hahaha. It’s just that whenever i try to make shapes to guide me, the drawing comes out wrong in some way. Like something’s off. Like something’s holding the drawing back.
Just try to draw the same shoe over and over to get the hang of it when you sit to draw down. Sort of like a warm up. Haha. Then when you start to feel satisfied, go on and experiment on more difficult subjects.
Hope this helps. Even by a little bit. :)
